How long have you been in operation?

The Veterans Food Bank of Calgary was established in August 2018. Our official charitable status was granted in 2020.

Who do you serve?

Veterans and First Responders (Police, Fire, Ems)

What makes you different from other veterans' organizations?

We provide a one-stop shop for our clients. Every situation is different and unique and we strive to create food security and then work on the systematic concerns that brought them to us.

What services do you provide?

Food Security, Financial Assistance (Request form required), Group Therapy, Individual Therapy, P.T.S.D. Evaluation, Biweekly Group Therapy for Victims of Sexual assault in the Military, Clothing (Large selection of new donated items), Laundry Facilities, Recreational mezzanine ( 2 big screen tv`s for that big game), Pool table, Foosball Table, A secure place to unwind and chat with other vets or just have a game of pool.

How much food do you provide per visit?

We ask our clients to return every 2 – 3 weeks so that we can establish a rapport and build trust with them.

There is no established amount that we provide as family sizes vary. Our clients grab a grocery cart and do their own shopping, allowing them to select items they like and will use, which reduces waste and assists in restoring of the client in the process.

What if I can't come to the food bank?

No problem, we will help you get sorted. Clients can call our assistance line at 403-277-8387 or email info@vfba.ca and a volunteer driver will be happy to bring your order to you.

Not a client? Call us anyways – we’ll work with you to verify your identity and get you set up right away.

We are always on the lookout for exceptional volunteers.

What kind of donations do you accept?

Food bank – New Clothing, Boots, Small Kitchen appliances, Food (Call for the current needed items), Monetary donations are gratefully Accepted – Please go to our Donate tab Above.

CVSS Veterans Retreat – Building materials of all kinds. Please call to coordinate pickup and transportation to the retreat location.
